Today, Infor announced Infor Flex, a new program that gives customers a clear, fast and cost effective path to adopt Infor's latest product innovations. Jim Schaper, Infor's Chairman and CEO, provides a short introduction to Infor Flex in this video. Below the video is an overview presentation.

We've always had a maintenance agreement and were under the impression that the code is free with that? How is this different? Sounds like you're re-announcing the same old thing with a new name.

Hi Marcia - Good question, and I'll try to explain the difference. As you said, as a maintenance customer you can access the code at no additional charge. This is the case with most solutions. (In a minority of cases there are fees required with software upgrades but we are minimizing those as a part of this program.)
One of the primary drivers of the Flex program is to get customers who are on older product releases to the latest, SOA-enabled version of the product. Many of our new SOA components are available without additional charge as part of maintenance. If a customer is on a much older release of a product, or they have a number of customizations, it makes it more difficult to upgrade to the latest release to take advantage of these new capabilities. Infor Flex helps make it easier, both financially and with less business disruption.
With Flex, we are dramatically simplifying and reducing pricing to help the customers get to the latest release. This is complemented by NO incremental maintenance fees as well as packaged services to reduce risk and increase speed and certainty.
Sometimes business requirements have changed dramatically since they first bought their solution, so Infor Flex gives those customers that qualify the option to exchange their current Infor solution for another one that better fits their needs. As part of all of this, Infor is offering substantial license fee discounts on complementary solutions, new modules or adding new users.
If a customer is already on a SOA-enabled version, then that’s great – and they can still benefit from these discounts. Finally, I would add that this is all voluntary. The choice is completely in your hands, we’re trying just trying to give more options and better value to our customers. I hope this answers your question.

It would be nice if Infor/Mapics included the Tools within their Applications such as Enterprise Integrator to create views and reports without having to keep spending money for all of the "BOLT-ON" Packages - Just to make their Main Systems Usable - I guess it is just another Revenue Stream - - -
