Infor launches Infor/FIT Fashion Design ICONS Award
June 30, 2016
How about this for a dream come true? A gown you designed wins a contest and will be featured at the Harper’s BAZAAR ICONS event during New York Fashion Week.
It’s going to happen for one brilliant fashion design student.
Infor is again sponsoring the exciting Harper’s BAZAAR ICONS event as part of New York Fashion Week on Sept 9. And new this year, Infor is partnering with the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and Harper’s BAZAAR Global to launch a student-driven fashion design award contest — Infor/FIT Fashion Design ICONS Award — with the ultimate winner chosen by crowd-sourced voting.
Here’s how it will work:
June 21 — FIT students had until June 21 to submit a fashion design.
June 28 — Three finalists, chosen by an expert panel of judges, are named. The judges are:
- Marc Scibelli, Infor chief creative officer
- Kristen Ingersoll, editor, Harper’s BAZAAR International
- John Anthony, couturier
- Laura Gurfein, editor Racked.com
July 10-29 — Crowd-sourced voting is open for three weeks.
Attendees of Inforum 2016, Infor’s user conference being held July 10-13 in New York, will be able to view the three finalists’ designs and vote for their favorite at a kiosk in the Retail neighborhood of The Hub. A public voting page also will be available on Infor.com, and you can follow the contest with #FashionDesignICONS on Twitter.
August – Winning garment is produced.
Sept 8 — The winner of the Infor/FIT Fashion Design ICONS Award is revealed.
Sept 9 — The winning garment is featured at the Harper’s BAZAAR Global ICONS event.
Several videos are being created to document the contest, the design and production processes, and to showcase the student designers and their gorgeous creations. The first video will be posted to the contest page Aug 11.
